What's the importance of changing your air filter?
By InterSpect
A clogged air filter can cause extensive damage to your system. Dirt and neglect are one of the leading causes of heating and cooling system failure, this premature failure is completely avoidable. HVAC experts recommend you check your air filter’s condition regularly, and help ensure the longevity of your system, saving yourself thousands in possible repair and replacement costs.
A clogged air filter causes the HVAC system to work harder and longer to achieve desired temperatures, that costs you more in electricity fees and system wear.
Changing the air filter in your system regularly ensures cleaner, fresher, healthier air. A clean air filter means you are not constantly circulating dust, dust mites, pollen and other small particles in the air. Your system will purify the air, leaving it clean and healthy.
Most 1 inch filters should be changed monthly, however there are some that can last up to 3 months. Check them monthly and replace as needed. Four inch filters can last 6 – 12 months, check them at 6 months and determine if it’s time to replace.
InterSpect Home Inspections Certified Inspector will check the condition of the installed air filters and the interior of the HVAC equipment during your thorough home inspection.
